Being able to photograph an engagement session at a California nature preserve has been on our bucket list since we moved here. let’s be honest, there is a lot of natural beauty in California, and you could probably walk out of your front door in fifty percent of the State and be in a nature preserve. Luckily for us our future bride and groom, Amelia and David, were up for the challenge of photographing in a wild area. We joked about the terrain and how important shoe choices are when doing a shoot like this. Needless to say, high heels are not the best choice for a photo shoot like this. Luckily no one was wearing stilettos.
Amelia and David will be married this September, three months to the day from this photo shoot. They have chosen Scotts Seafood on the River For their venue. It is a beautiful location, very elegant, right on the water, and should be a fantastic location for an early fall California wedding. When we first met with Amelia, we invited her to our new loft near midtown. Meeting clients in our home is still a little new to us, but all of us had a great time and really hit it off well. Instead of David, Amelia brought one of her friends who is already married and had a little experience with photographers . She asked all of the good questions and helped Amelia understand some of the important factors that go into choosing photographers. When they left that night, Dana and I talked about how much we enjoyed Amelia and how comfortable the whole interaction was. It wasn’t until about a month later that we met David. Once we met him we could immediately see that these two are perfect for each other. The more we get to know them and learn about their story, the more we can really see everything falling into place for them.
Soon this couple will be beginning the journey of marriage together so it was nice to able to catch up with them during this engaged time…. that period of time where you are committed to each other but not yet married. Being engaged can sometimes feel like a year of wedding planning and not much more, but as you can see in their smiles and in the playful way they interact with each other that this couple is enjoying this time in their life. Amelia and David, thanks for going off of the beaten path with us and allowing us to capture you two during this special time of your life.
